CITY PLACE
Silver Spring, Maryland

Originally an inward facing urban mall, MRA transformed City Place to meet the latest trends in retail. Street level stores were reoriented to the outside, and re-tenanted with cafes and multi-level stores with street access. In conjunction with new development across the street, downtown Silver Spring has become a major retail destination in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Due to the historic designation of the building, new signage has been placed off of the facade and onto freestanding steel grid billboards.

A new corner mall entrance, new interior walkways on levels one through three and new escalators were installed to reorient the mall to the new street-front development, as well.

MRA provided retail planning, architecture, structural and MEP engineering for this multi-million dollar renovation.
